5 Ways to Recover After A Workout

June 14, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

I love a good sweat session! There’s nothing like moving your body as a means to take care of yourself and knowing that all the sweat your building up is because you’re being physically active. Not only does this feel so good mentally and physically, but emotionally as well.

For a while now exercising consistently has been my greatest source of release. Especially when I’m feeling super stressed and overwhelmed! There’s nothing like releasing all that tension and built up negative energy in a workout that is going to make you sweat. Especially when you sweat, because sweating means that you really are putting in the work.

Now don’t get me wrong. There are many moments when I would much rather not sweat. Like when I’m going on nice walk, I’m sitting outside reading a book, or even when I’m just at home watching a movie. In very simple moments like that I do not like to sweat. In my mind there’s no rhyme or reason.

And yes, I will go to great lengths to prevent myself from sweating as a result of lack of physical activity. However, when I’m sweating because I’m being physically active, I embrace it completely! This is because I know for a fact that I put in a lot of effort to achieve some small goal, and the sweat is validation for me to know that it was 100% worth it.

But this post isn’t about sweat. I know you’re wondering where I’m going with this topic so let’s not stall any longer.

With sweat, especially after a workout, may come some pain. The good kind of pain though, the type of pain I encourage you to embrace. I’m talking about the pain you feel when you know your muscles are tightening because you just crushed your workout.

For so long I never really knew how to get rid of that pain. After a workout I would literally just lay out on the bed and wait for the paid to subside. However, earlier this year I made a commitment to myself to better my health in all aspects. That included the way in which I recovered after a workout. [Read more…]

8 Goals to Achieve in Three Months

June 8, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

Do you set goals? If so, how often? What type of goals are they? What is the average time span you give yourself to achieve these goals?

I’m such a big believer in setting goals for a number of reasons. For starters I believe that when we have goals that we are actively working towards it gives us something to focus on. This allows us to invest our time, money, and energy wisely so that we walk away feeling a strong sense of accomplishment.

Another reason setting goals is so important is because it helps to paint a clear picture of what direction we want our lives to go. It’s so easy to get caught in the “what if” or the “if only” mindset that we tend to lose sight of the little things that matter.

Things like what we already have, what we naturally have to offer the world, capitalizing on our greatest passions, and really just living life to the fullest for our own happiness. Having goals can keep the line between what it is we think we want in life and what it is that we really want very clear.

I’ve been here many times before. My approach?  Look at the bigger picture and find what you can do weekly to help make that picture a reality. The goal? To achieve that goal over the span of three months. Three months is enough time to be able to work towards a goal, or the bigger picture, without feeling the pressure to succeed immediately.

In a world where we are so use to instant gratification it’s important to pace yourself as you navigate through life. Especially when it comes to reaching a specific goal. In this post I’m going to share with you 8 goals that can be achieved over the span of three months. [Read more…]

Wellness Practices to Improve Your Health

June 1, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

There are so many areas of our health that need to be taken care of on a daily basis. These areas include our mental, emotional, spiritual, as well as physical health.

As you guys know I talk a lot about self-care and the power of wellness! It’s so important that we practice this on a daily basis for a couple of reasons.

For starters, it improves our mood significantly. If you’re ever having a bad day, or you feel a little down in the dumps, seriously engage in some form of self-care. Your mood will improve almost instantly.

Secondly, self-care helps to keep our mental health in check. There are so many things that can have a negative impact on our mental health. Stress and anxiety, arguments, reading about negative news, watching devastating events unfold on the news, and so much more.

Life is unavoidable which means all the things that come packaged with living life is unavoidable. Care for your mental health by actively engaging in self-care daily.

Most importantly self-care helps us keep all areas of our health in balance. When we do the necessary things to be happy, to be well, to keep our stress and anxiety levels low, we are doing our best to keep everything that makes us human balanced. And that’s not always easy!

Since my journey with practicing self-care and wellness consistently began, I’ve learned a few things about the way these practices positively impact my health. It’s really amazing all the benefits that result from practicing self-care, and from actively engaging in wellness practices on a daily basis.

So today I’m going to share with you some of my favorite wellness practices that have improved my health for the better. [Read more…]

The Perfect Quarantine Routine for A Stress-Free Day

May 25, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

There’s nothing more stress inducing than being stuck at home all day with absolutely nothing to do. I mean literally nothing to do but stare at a blank wall, watch TV all day, or mindlessly eat all the food in your house.

Have you ever been guilty of this? I most certainly have. Many, many, many times before.

What happens when we’re stuck at home with nothing to do is, we begin to look for things to do. Literally anything that will distract us from whatever is currently keeping us occupied at the moment, even if only for a few seconds.

As you can imagine this may sometimes lead to bad habits that do not benefit our health and wellness in any way. Like the ones mentioned above for example.

How do we avoid being stressed and picking up bad habits while staying at home? We find ways to mindfully be productive while at home. Being mindfully productive doesn’t mean you stay busy the entire day. All being mindfully productive really means is that you do things during the day that keep you busy enough to not pick up any bad habits.

It’s not about being a busy bee, having no down time, or doing things for the hell of it. Instead, being mindfully productive while at home is really all about doing things that will nurture your physical, mental, and emotional health.

There are a ton of things you can do during the day to accomplish this. Even when you’re at home and literally have nothing to do. In today’s post I’m going to share with you the perfect quarantine routine for a stress-free day. [Read more…]

8 Ways to Manage Your Anxiety While at Home

May 18, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

Being home 24/7 can be stressful. Very stressful. Trust me I get it 100%. There is something very calming and joyful about being able to be a part of the world and interact with people other people. And I say this as a HUGE introvert!

However, I also believe there is something very peaceful and powerful about being able to exist comfortably and truthfully in your own space.

As a homebody and somebody who experiences high levels of anxiety, I’ve learned a few techniques allow me to recognize my reasoning for the space I am taking up at the moment. These techniques help me better manage my anxiety.

It’s so important that we allow ourselves to exist truthfully in those moments when our anxiety may be getting the best of us. This is because by doing so we able to take a step back, acknowledge all that is happening not only with ourselves but in our environment as well, and then begin to manage the situation.

All too often we take for granted our power, our self-worth, and our ability to take up as much space is needed for us to reach our full potential.

This is why I believe it’s so important to have a multitude of techniques that can help you center yourself at any time during the day, and for any situation, good or bad, you may find yourself in. [Read more…]
