Mother’s Day Gift Guide: Help Her Achieve All Her Health & Wellness Goals

Mother’s Day will be here sooner than we know it, and that means it’s time to start thinking of the various ways that we can reward our mothers for all the wonderful things that they do.

I don’t know about you but I find it very hard to gift my mother something meaningful yet functional at the same time. This is mainly because the things that my mother loves, are not things that are necessarily functional in a manner that is going to help her achieve all of her goals in life. After taking some time to really think about what I would like to gift my mother this year, that will actually help her achieve some of her goals, I stumble upon this wonderful idea.

For years my mother has said that she wants to live a healthier and more active life. This includes adopting a consistent workout routine, eating as clean and as healthy as she possibly can on most days, and on her days off participating in activities that will require her to move and be active and not just sit on the couch all day. For years I have told my mother that I will help her in achieving this goal, but somehow it always got pushed to the side.

Hey there love bugs!

So, if you haven’t heard the news then I totally understand because I’ve only shared the news a couple of times with the world. What’s the news you may be wondering? Well, the news is that I too struggle with working out, eating clean, and committing to living my best life.

These three areas have always been such a huge struggle for me! I have this up and down sort of twisted but super inspiring of making myself a priority every single day. Some days I struggle with working out, I struggle with eating clean when it comes to almost every single meal, and I most definitely struggle with loving myself more.

These are areas that I have struggle with my whole life, and as I become older (help me haha) these are areas that become a greater struggle for me. I use to beat myself up about not being able to stay committed to a workout routine, or choosing to eat that fruit bowl over that delicious burger, and even when I treat myself with a reward (like a movie or two) for working so hard and taking care of everyone. It’s so silly, trust me I know, but it’s also the truth.

Hey there! Have you been having a tickling throat as of late? Or maybe you have a cough of some sort? Possibly the chills or a fever occasionally? If yes well honestly, it’s no surprise. The cold and flu season is upon us after all, and that means for some of us our immune systems are at risk!

Every year I always manage to get sick during this time of year. Thankfully it has always just been the common cold, and occasionally strep throat (which really sucks), but never the flu. In my defense though I usually only ever get sick after someone else in my household has been sick.

This year my nephew caught the bug first. I’m not sure where he got it from, more than likely from school, but he got sick bad. When I took him to the doctor, he said that he was in the beginning stages of pneumonia. Shortly after that learning of that I began to get sick. I too thought that I was going to be in the beginning stages of pneumonia, which would not have been fun because I’ve had pneumonia before, and I promised myself that I would never put myself in a position to get that sick every again!

Thankfully I wasn’t. My throat just ended up being really sore, I had a really hard, thick, and dry cough, and every time I ate something, I would end up just throwing it up.

Of course, stubborn little old me never went to the doctor to find out what was wrong with me. Instead, I decided to take a more natural way of curing myself from this cold. After making sure that my nephew had his medicine and was good to go back to school the following week, I started to focus on some small changes I could make in my daily health and wellness routine to beat this cold. Anxiety and depression can be debilitating at times. It can drain us completely of energy, make us feel bad about ourselves, and most importantly it can drive us to new heights of insane. Trust me I’ve been there and find myself traveling to this dark and lonely place more times than I’d like to admit.

I have major, major anxiety and it’s a battle that I deal with on a daily basis. Something I have noticed over the years is if I don’t take the time to care for myself when I’m feeling extremely anxious, it intensifies. When my anxiety is going out of control if I don’t engage in some form of self-care, depression will slowly begin to creep in. when depression creeps in, I’m glued to my bed for at least a week…

And that’s not good let alone fun.

All this to say that self-care is very, very important. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live, whether or not you have depression or suffer from anxiety, it’s a part of our health and wellness that needs to be a priority in our lives.
