10 Self-Care Activities for A Stressful Day

When you’ve had a really stressful day what’s the first thing you do? Do you go home and have a cup of wine? Maybe you go home and go straight to bed? Do you call up a friend or your significant other and vent to them? Or are you the type to keep it all bottled in, letting it slowly die down and leave your system?

I’m a mixture of all of these but more so the last option than the rest. Dealing with stress is a big deal for me especially because it seems to be a part of my daily routine. While I am not complaining at all about the life I was given, I do recognize that stress just comes with the territory of caring for children and chasing entrepreneurship. As a result of this I’ve also learned that it’s really important for me to engage in self-care a lot more often that I use to do in the past.

If you stress on a regular basis, and honestly even if you don’t, then daily or at the very least weekly self-care is a must for you! It helps you re-center yourself, rediscover your purpose in life, and most importantly it’s a great way to remind yourself that you are a priority. I truly do believe that we cannot give the best version of ourselves to others if we are not treating ourselves with the highest of priorities.

30 Day Fitness Challenge: Why Your Health & Wellness Matters

Hi guys!

This past month I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about how I can best serve you with this blog. I sent out a survey earlier in the month (you only got it if you are subscribed to my newsletter) asking you all what type of content you would like to see more of on the blog. To no surprise it was more content related to fitness.

Specifically, you mentioned that you’d like to learn more about exercises that are great for strengthening target areas, such as the abs, butt, legs, etc. While the thought alone did seem a bit overwhelming at first, I am actually very happy that you would love to see more content like this. I love working out, it is one of my favorite ways to engage in self-care and de-stress, so here’s what I’ve decided to do.

How to Quickly Boost Your Energy When You Really Have None

These past few weeks have been completely exhausting for me. There have been a lot of changes happening in my life (good ones), and they all have been happening back to back. I knew these changes were coming and like normal I did my best to prepare for them. However, even with doing my best to be prepared things still a got little out of control and proved to be a bit overwhelming.

As a result of all the changes that have been happening in my life, I’ve been extremely tired and exhausted, and have barely even been able to find more than 4 hours in the day to rest, sleep, and catch my breath. A couple of days ago I sat down and really took the time to reflect on how well (or poorly) I had been taking care of myself, how present I have been with others, how helpful I may or may not have been for those who may have needed at one time or another. Most importantly I also took the time to reflect on how patient I have been with not only myself, but with everyone else as well.

Using that time to think about all this made me realize something…I hadn’t been doing a good job with taking care of me so that I could present the best of me to others. Instead, I’ve been on autopilot just doing things as they came, but not doing them efficiently, and only giving about 30% of myself to others. This is not who I am, I don’t half-ass things, and knowing that I was not putting my best foot forward left a sour taste in my mouth. [Read more…]

20 Fun Health and Wellness Summer Activities

It’s summer!

I’ll admit it’s not my favorite season, but I really do enjoy being out in the sunshine and relaxing in the warm weather. However, when it gets way too hot outside, I have to be indoors. I can’t stand the heat like that. Thankfully summer has not been off to a burning start. Instead, it’s been a very pleasant warm outside, which I love because it gives me a reason to be out and about engaging in some fun summertime activities.

Over the summer I usually like to stay indoors reading a good book for most of the day. I also love, love, love watching movies and binge-watching TV shows at night during the summertime. Something about it just makes it all seem a bit more…vibe worthy. If that makes any sense ha-ha.

This summer however, I’m choosing to switch it up a little. I’m still going to be indoors reading, watching movies and TV shows for most of the summer, but I’m also going to do my best to be a little bit more active.

I’m putting a heavy focus on my health and wellness this season. One of my health and wellness goals for this year was to be more active. Whether this meant walking more, doing more cardio, or just getting out and moving my body, I want to increase my daily level of physical activity. So, in addition to participating in some of my favorite and traditional summertime activities, I’m also going to try to get out as much as I can and soak up the sun.

20 Self-Care Activities That You Can Do with a Friend

You know how much I love to talk about, encourage, and even participate in self-care. You know that, right?

Well if you’re new to my blog the one thing you should know about me is that I LOVE self-care! I am such a huge advocate for it and I strongly believe that everyone should be participating in it every single day. There are so many reasons why we all should be engaging in self-care on a daily basis.

Some of those reasons include:

  1. It promotes a healthy relationship with ourselves
  2. It increases our confidence and self-esteem
  3. It helps in creating healthy boundaries with others
  4. It promotes an overall greater well-being
  5. It helps you be more energetic throughout the day

These are just a few reasons why you should be doing self-care on a daily basis. Of course, this list could be a lot longer, but that’s not what today’s post is about. Instead I want to introduce you to some ways that you can engage in self-care with a friend, a family member, or anybody in your life who could use a little bit of self-loving as well.

Often times when we think of self-care, we think of the alone time that we all so desperately crave. While this is a great way, and honestly my favorite way, to engage in self-care, that’s not the only way to do it effectively. Believe it or not you can hang out with your friends and family doing fun things while still taking the time to engage in self-care.
