The Best Tips for Dealing with Life Transitions

July 20, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

Life. It’s constantly changing and evolving, and we as humans do the best we can to keep up with it all. Sometimes it’s a smooth transition, other times it can be challenging. But nonetheless it’s all a part of the process.

This year so far, I’ve grown in a lot of ways. With that new growth has come many life changes that I’ve had to transition into. I’ll admit, it hasn’t been easy at all, but I’ve been keeping a positive mindset and choosing to see the good in everything that has happened in my life as a result of these life transitions.

Life changes are meant to allow us space to grow and change in more honest ways than one, but that doesn’t mean we’re always ready to transition when it happens. As I already mentioned, I’ve been adjusting to a lot of necessary life changes this year and it’s been an uphill battle. However, through the good, the bad, and the ugly I’ve developed some skills to help me transition through it all a little bit easier.

Today I’m going to share some of those tips with you. [Read more…]

How to Create the Perfect Self-Care Routine

July 13, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

I’m so sick of reading about the debate of what self-care is and what it is not. You guys know that I believe self-care is 100% personal, so there really isn’t, in my opinion, a right or wrong way to practice it. Of course, I wish the rest of the world would view self-care in this manner as well but the reality is that, that’s not the case.

Instead, there seems to be this huge divide about the right way and the right things to do in order to effectively practice self-care. Anything that doesn’t seem to align with those ideals and practices is automatically cast aside as not self-care.

This is frustrating beyond relief because self-care is not a surface level practice! There are many layers to it, and many different ways to practice self-care, and many different approaches to creating an effective self-care routine. Before we dive deep into how to create the perfect self-care routine for you, I first want to talk about the importance of self-care.

If you’re new to the blog here’s where I stand with the idea of self-care.

It is 100% personal. That means whatever works best or is most effective for someone else doesn’t necessarily mean that, that will be the case for you. This also means that there is no right or wrong way to engage in self-care because your needs are going to vary from moment to moment compared to the needs of everyone else.

The most important part of any self-care practice or routine is understanding what needs you have that need to be met in that present moment. The main goal of consistently practicing self-care is to achieve an overall higher and more satisfying well-being. This does not happen by just engaging in any regular self-care practice.

Instead, you have to understand what need you are meeting, what aspect or area of your health you are focusing on, and what the necessary self-care activity is needed in the present moment in order to help you achieve a healthier overall well-being. So, let’s take a closer look at how you can go about creating the perfect self-care routine for yourself. [Read more…]

5 Ways to Empower Yourself

July 5, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

As a woman I completely understand how hard it can be to find self-empowerment. We are taught at a very young age to idolize this idea of what it means to be a woman, and little do we realize then that, that idea is so unrealistic. Of course, this unrealistic ideal does not only apply to women.

I wish I understood more about a man’s experience with living up to expectations but the truth is I don’t. I could never truly understand the pressure and the burden they must feel because I am not a man. I am a woman. However, since I am a woman and can only speak from a women’s perspective, that is what I am going to do.

And as a woman I understand what it feels like to constantly seek approval from others. How it feels to not feel worthy of others. What it means to place such a high value on yourself just for others to look down on you for it. I understand what it means to not feel empowered, which is why one of my biggest missions in life is to help women feel empowered.

We as women have to get better at trusting our own instincts. Knowing that we know what is best for us. Trusting that we have the knowledge to know when something is bad for us, or when we can improve a situation we are in as a means to improve ourselves overall. We have to get better at feeling empowered in order to truly life our happiest lives and reach our full potential.

All too often we place this trust, this confidence, and this ideal of what makes us great in the hands of others. We very rarely ever trust that all the answers are hidden within ourselves.

I made a vow 6 years ago to stop looking to others, both men and women alike, to know what is my worth. I promised myself that I was no longer going to rely on outside forces to identify my strengths. Instead I was going to start searching within, and trusting whatever power I found hidden inside to be my guiding light.

I was going to start empowering myself from that day forward and no longer looking for others to spark the flame for me. It took some time to figure out the formula that works best for me but after many years of trial and error, I finally found one that’s working best for me right now.

I’m still finding the perfect recipe but so far, I’ve got a pretty solid flow in motion. Today I’m sharing with you my top secrets for empowering yourself. [Read more…]

How to Stay Committed to Your Health and Wellness Goals

June 22, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

Let’s be honest it’s not as easy as we would like to think it is to stick to our goals. It’s the same old song for most of us. We start out with very clear and specific goals that we want to achieve.

Once we actually begin the process of working towards them, we start out really strong. That momentum may last about a week or two, but eventually we hit a wall. Once that wall has been hit our momentum begins to slow down, and once that happens some of us just abandon ship altogether.

In the end we don’t achieve any of the goals that we set. Instead, they just get pushed back further away and becomes all the more daunting for us to work towards.

I’ve been down this road many times before. If I’m being honest it’s a very natural part of the health and wellness journey. You’d be a fool to believe that you were going to get everything right the first go round. This is because our bodies are not the only part of us that is undergoing a change.

Our minds and emotions are as well. This naturally makes your first attempt at reaching for your goals challenging because you don’t know what to expect mentally, physically, and emotionally. Whenever we are faced with something new there are two things that always happen.

In the beginning we embrace the challenge and actually look forward to being an active participant for it. Once we get a little taste of what the challenge has to offer, we get this overwhelming instinct to run for the hills because we trick ourselves into believing that at some point we will fail.

So we enter this fight or flight mode where we’d have save ourselves from failure rather than risk it for the biscuit. I’m telling you not to run, and here’s why. [Read more…]

5 Ways to Recover After A Workout

June 14, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

I love a good sweat session! There’s nothing like moving your body as a means to take care of yourself and knowing that all the sweat your building up is because you’re being physically active. Not only does this feel so good mentally and physically, but emotionally as well.

For a while now exercising consistently has been my greatest source of release. Especially when I’m feeling super stressed and overwhelmed! There’s nothing like releasing all that tension and built up negative energy in a workout that is going to make you sweat. Especially when you sweat, because sweating means that you really are putting in the work.

Now don’t get me wrong. There are many moments when I would much rather not sweat. Like when I’m going on nice walk, I’m sitting outside reading a book, or even when I’m just at home watching a movie. In very simple moments like that I do not like to sweat. In my mind there’s no rhyme or reason.

And yes, I will go to great lengths to prevent myself from sweating as a result of lack of physical activity. However, when I’m sweating because I’m being physically active, I embrace it completely! This is because I know for a fact that I put in a lot of effort to achieve some small goal, and the sweat is validation for me to know that it was 100% worth it.

But this post isn’t about sweat. I know you’re wondering where I’m going with this topic so let’s not stall any longer.

With sweat, especially after a workout, may come some pain. The good kind of pain though, the type of pain I encourage you to embrace. I’m talking about the pain you feel when you know your muscles are tightening because you just crushed your workout.

For so long I never really knew how to get rid of that pain. After a workout I would literally just lay out on the bed and wait for the paid to subside. However, earlier this year I made a commitment to myself to better my health in all aspects. That included the way in which I recovered after a workout. [Read more…]
