6 Ways to Engage in Personal Development

March 9, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

The best investment you can ever make in life is any investment that will help you grow.

I truly do believe this. We spend so much time and money in our youth creating great memories, going on amazing adventures, creating a healthy social life, and so much more. But we don’t put a lot of that time and money into growing ourselves into the ideal person we’d like to be when we grow up.

I’m talking about investing in personal development activities. I know this because this was me in my teenage years, and for about 5 years of my legal adult life.

I had no idea what it meant, let alone looked like, to really invest in yourself in ways that only you could. Think about this like self-care. Self-care is important and necessary because it helps us create balance, learn how to remain in that balance, it allows us to rejuvenate ourselves when needed, and most importantly it’s a sure sign of self-love.

Personal development is very much the same thing.

When we take the time to work on ourselves and improve parts of us that may be broken or not as strong as other areas, it’s a sure sign of self-care. It’s an act of self-kindness that no one can ever take away from you, and it solidifies the way you see yourself as an individual when in the presence of others.

So how do you participate in personal development? What activities are out there to help you get started now? Honestly there are a ton, literally like thousands of activities waiting for you to give them a try.

But what if I told you that there were also just as many ways to engage in personal development without necessarily breaking the bank or taking up a ton of your time?

Well buckle up because I’m going to take you on an eye-opening ride! In today’s post I’m going to share with you 6 ways to engage in personal development that you can literally start doing today. [Read more…]

5 Reasons Why You Should Be Meditating Daily

March 2, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

I want to talk about something old, but also something new that I’ve been incorporating into my wellness routine. Meditation.

I love meditation, but it wasn’t always this way.

I use to think that meditation was something people only did when they had their shit together, because that meant it was easy to do. Little did I know that the overall purpose of meditation is to connect the mind and body to one another so that you can learn to live a more purposeful life.

Sounds insane I know, and it turns out that there are so many health benefits that can result from practicing meditation. Meditation can help with stress and anxiety, lower depression levels, it can improve your physical health, increase your awareness, and even improve your quality of life.

Meditation isn’t only for people who have their shit together, and it’s not an easy practice what so ever. Meditation is for anybody looking to create a healthier relationship with themselves, while also increasing their quality of life. What I love most about meditation is that there really isn’t a right or wrong way to practice it.

Meditation is a very personal experience. It’s an experience that enriches your life based on what you choose to bring to the experience.

It’s a sacred space that you learn to create for yourself, where you let go of any worries or anxiety you may have, and collect positive vibes, and positive affirmations all for the purpose of increasing your happiness.

Meditation encourages you to be present on a moment to moment basis in a non-judgmental way.

It took me a really long time to really understand the relationship that I have with meditation. This was because for years I always had a vision in my head of what meditation was supposed to look like, instead of discovering what meditation could potentially be for me personally.

Since practicing meditation more often I’ve learned that meditation holds a different meaning, and takes up a different amount of space for everybody. What may be valid and helpful reasons for me about practicing meditation may not be the same truth for someone else.

Much like everything new we encounter in our lives we have to determine for ourselves the purpose meditation will have in our life. I started my meditation journey a couple of months ago and so far, I have discovered so much about myself.

I’ve grown so much because of meditation.

Today I want to share a little bit of my personal experience so far with meditating, as well as 5 reasons why you should be meditating daily. [Read more…]

Practicing Yoga for Your Health and Wellness

February 24, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

I love yoga! It wasn’t always this way if I’m being honest. For a very long time, yoga was something that I just couldn’t get into.

It wasn’t because I thought it was hard, or I that I wasn’t capable of doing it, or anything along those lines. I just couldn’t’ get into it because doing yoga requires you to engage all of your muscles, and I always felt extremely tired afterwards.

Yoga is meant to make you feel relaxed and energized, not exhausted. But for me I was always exhausted after a yoga session, so I just sort of distanced myself from practicing yoga for a while.

Flash forward about 5 years and here I am, a lover of yoga!

As you can see this love and appreciation for yoga did not happen overnight. It took time, practice, patience, and above all really learning the relationship my mind and body had with practicing yoga.

There are so many reasons why yoga is good for our health. Yoga helps to improve muscle strength, blood circulation, it can help to regulate your blood pressure, support your joints, improve your posture, and so much more. These are all functions of our body that need to be in tip top shape if we want to be at our best, and live our healthiest lives.

While yoga is not the only way to achieve these health benefits, it’s a great option for people who don’t live an active lifestyle. This is a great way to naturally improve your health, transform your body, and expand your wellness practices without making a commitment of any kind. [Read more…]

5 Super Easy Ways to Lose Weight

February 17, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

Here’s the deal, weight is a consistent part of the conversation when it comes to our health. We all think about it all the time, and the reality is that we should. To some extent.

Our weight can reveal big indicators of our health. It can tell us whether or not we are at risk for various health issues such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea. For women our weight can even have an impact on your fertility.

That’s a handful of things to consider when it comes to your health and weight.

Usually I’m not the type of person who will tell someone to be conscious of what their weight may be. That’s because I feel society puts way too much pressure on a woman’s weight, and that’s a big factor that leads to a lot of insecurities that we learn to have about our bodies.

And I’m not in favor of that at all.

However, as I get older, I’ve come to better understand that knowing what your weight is, and wanting to be at a weight that you are comfortable with, doesn’t have to have a negative connotation to it. In fact, you can have a very healthy relationship with your body no matter what your weight or body size may be.

Which made me realize that depending on what your health, wellness, and fitness goals may be, knowing your weight may be necessary in order for you to achieve those goals.

Now before we go any further, I want to make something very clear. While you should do your best to maintain a healthy weight, your weight does not equal your beauty or power. This post is not going to favor one weight or body size over the other.

Everything in this post is going to provide you with ways that you can take care of your body, and possibly lose weight, if that is a health goal of yours. [Read more…]

How to Practice Gratitude for Your Health

February 10, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

Let’s talk gratitude!

What is it? How does one practice it? Can it be beneficial for your health, or is gratitude really a matter of simply being thankful for everything you have?

Believe it or not practicing gratitude can have amazing benefits for your health, and I’m not just talking about the physical kind. This includes things such as improving various types of relationships, it can fight against depression, improve your decision making, improve performance, and can greatly improve your overall physical health.

It turns out that practicing gratitude is more than just a selfless way of thinking or living. It’s more of a practice that really promotes the act of being grateful, or thankful, for everything that you have. What’s even more interesting is that practicing gratitude transforms us from the inside out.

So, while we are improving things on the outside, such as the way we interact with the world, we’re also improving things on the inside, such as our immune system.

Crazy, right?

I guess to sum this all up in a nutshell, what gratitude does for our health is make room for more positivity in our lives, which naturally allows for more positive actions and results to take place, which naturally makes us happier and more successful people.

Sounds a bit too good to be true, right? I mean after all improving your health, caring for your body, it’s not that easy! Or is it? [Read more…]
