Why It’s Important to Busy Yourself Doing the Things That You Love!

August 7, 2018 by Kimora Chanel

Hi guys! As we get closer to my favorite half of the year (because of the holidays but really, I’m just super excited about October/Halloween) I’m realizing more and more how important it is that I continue to busy myself doing the things that I love.

I think it’s important that being busy consists of doing things that are fulfilling to me because it will always be the number one motivator to keep going. I don’t know about you but I can get discouraged very easily. When that happens, I will usually bail on whatever plans or projects I have in the works all because I have lost my confidence in being able to manifest it into something great. This year I’ve really been working hard on not bailing, on not losing confidence in my dreams, my abilities, or my goals, all in hopes that everything I envision for myself will be manifested into the world someday.

That manifestation starts with keeping myself busy doing things that fulfill me. More importantly these are things that I envision as part of my future, so there’s an accountability factor to continue to move forward when I become stagnant.

Before I dive a little deeper into why it’s important to busy yourself doing the things that you love, I have a story that I want to share with you.

This past week I had a major revelation. [Read more…]

Why You Shouldn’t Neglect Your Mental Health and 3 Wellness Techniques to Fix It

Oh my gosh!!!

So much has happened this past month and is happening this month that I can’t even keep up emotionally! It feels so weird to admit that to myself (and you guys) out loud but it’s the truth. I’ve never been the type of person to handle stress and pressure from demands well, but somehow, I made it through this past month in one piece. I’m also a little nervous about this month and all the activities that I have planned but I’m sure with consistent practice of my wellness routine I will come out of this month in one piece as well.

Here’s a super quick update about everything that has happened in my life up to this very moment. I celebrated Father’s Day, 3 birthdays, and the 4th of July. I also sent out a super important email to my mother agency in search of models for a super cool project that I am working. Literally within a day of sending out that email I was getting tons of models who were interested and wanted to take part in the project.

So, I pretty much spent the rest of June, and so far, all of this month booking models, writing out detail plans for the projects, booking a location for the photoshoot, and even booking a photographer. On top of that of course I had school that I had to do every week, and this lovely blog to attend to for you all. It may not sound like a lot but take my word for it, it was completely exhausting! 50 Fun and Easy Self-Care Activities to Add to Your Wellness Routine

July 1, 2018 by Kimora Chanel

Hi there!

Are you feeling as if all this heat from the summer days is playing the role as a big contributor to not engage in self-care? If you are please don’t feel guilty about this because you are not alone. All the heat has been more than enough reason for me to hide away in my home I stead of being out in the sun, even if only for 15 minutes.
Not only had the heat been a big reason why I’ve been avoiding going outside lately, but it’s also been the reason I’ve been hiding away in my basement all summer. The heat can be felt literally from corner to corner, of every corner in my house, except for the basement.

You may be wondering why the basement is such a bad place to hide away. Well the answer is simple. My basement is very, very small which means that there are literally very few things that I am able to do. I can’t do yoga, I can try to meditate but because the basement is hated among 5 different people finding that peace and quiet pretty much doesn’t exist. I can’t work out because u have very little room to move, and I can’t even read a book because my basement has no windows, and the lights circuits do not work.

Are you starting to see my problem here? Well my very limited ability to consistently engage in self-care while I hide away from the sun in my basement gave reminded me of the limits that I was putting on myself. I had limited myself in being able to engage in self-care because of the simple fact that I had very little room to participate in the self-care activities that fulfill me.

Happy Mother’s Day: 3 Important Life Lessons I Learned

May 14, 2018 by Kimora Chanel

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, mothers to be, or mothers who are no longer present with us. Mother’s Day is all about appreciating your mother and the female role models in your life who have been mother figures to you. Due to this sometimes this holiday can be an emotional one, for many people, for various reasons. This day can also be a very celebratory one for others again for various reasons. Whatever the case, I think it’s important to acknowledge that this day will impact you in some way (whether you are a mother or not) because it will teach you something about womanhood.

For me Mother’s Day happens to be a little bit of both, emotional and celebratory. Here’s why.

It’s no secret that I don’t have the best relationship with my mother. Well it’s not secret if you know me in person and you know about my life experience with my mother (which if you don’t you’re going to learn a little bit about). While I do love her very much, and I am really protective of her, and very appreciative of everything that she does for me and the family, she hasn’t always been the best female role model for me. In fact, for a really long time she wasn’t a female role model for me at all. If anything, she was a role model for the type of woman I should not strive to be. [Read more…]

31 Ways You Can Take Care of Your Mental Health

May 1, 2018 by Kimora Chanel

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILATE LINKS. PLEASE READ MY DISCLOSURE FOR MORE INFO.

Take a moment and breathe. Close your eyes and think about the last time you put yourself first. Think about the last time you spent an entire day focusing on yourself and nothing else. Think about the last time you were stress and worry free. Got that moment in your minds eye? If so, I want you to hold onto that moment and think about how you felt. How do you feel now that you are reflecting back on that moment?

If you feel relieved, less stress, and at peace with that moment chances are you really were putting yourself first. That’s a good feeling to have and I encourage you all to embrace it more often. When we put ourselves first we are actually taking the time to focus on our overall health. This includes our physical, emotional, and mental health. Mental health is on the rise and honestly, it’s one of the biggest parts of our health that we are taking for granted.

Mental health has a negative stigma attached to it but it doesn’t have to. Yes, it is true that often times mental health refers to a mental illness of some sort. However, I’m here to tell you different. It’s important to acknowledge that mental illness is a part of one’s mental health, but it is also important to understand that mental health is not solely about mental illness. Mental health as a collective is the psychological well-being of an individual. This includes one’s psychological state in regards to emotions and behaviors.

So when you think back about the moment when you put yourself first, understand that you were not just putting yourself first but you were putting your mental health first. When we put our mental health first, or at least take the time to take care of our mental health, we are checking in with ourselves. When we check in with ourselves we are evaluating our current state of emotional, psychological, and behavioral presence, and resetting these three states to prepare for the next moment that is to come.
