I was once told to never depend on anyone to make you happy, you gotta learn how to do that shit yourself.

When I was told this I was very, very young and naïve. I didn’t really understand the meaning behind this or why this person felt the need to say these words to me. It wasn’t until I entered my young adulthood years when those words started to mean something to me.

After going through a really tough break-up, coming up on the last year of my undergrad studies, and starting a job in my field, my life was a hot mess.

I was a hot mess and I was honestly slowly sinking into a deep depression. That’s when I revisited these words that were once told to me many years ago and understood what this person meant by it.

I had to learn how to make myself happy, and going through that really rough year (with many rough years to follow after) I start learning just how to do that. Now I want to help you do the same.

Mother’s Day Gift Guide: Help Her Achieve All Her Health & Wellness Goals

Mother’s Day will be here sooner than we know it, and that means it’s time to start thinking of the various ways that we can reward our mothers for all the wonderful things that they do.

I don’t know about you but I find it very hard to gift my mother something meaningful yet functional at the same time. This is mainly because the things that my mother loves, are not things that are necessarily functional in a manner that is going to help her achieve all of her goals in life. After taking some time to really think about what I would like to gift my mother this year, that will actually help her achieve some of her goals, I stumble upon this wonderful idea.

For years my mother has said that she wants to live a healthier and more active life. This includes adopting a consistent workout routine, eating as clean and as healthy as she possibly can on most days, and on her days off participating in activities that will require her to move and be active and not just sit on the couch all day. For years I have told my mother that I will help her in achieving this goal, but somehow it always got pushed to the side.

Hey there love bugs!

So, if you haven’t heard the news then I totally understand because I’ve only shared the news a couple of times with the world. What’s the news you may be wondering? Well, the news is that I too struggle with working out, eating clean, and committing to living my best life.

These three areas have always been such a huge struggle for me! I have this up and down sort of twisted but super inspiring of making myself a priority every single day. Some days I struggle with working out, I struggle with eating clean when it comes to almost every single meal, and I most definitely struggle with loving myself more.

These are areas that I have struggle with my whole life, and as I become older (help me haha) these are areas that become a greater struggle for me. I use to beat myself up about not being able to stay committed to a workout routine, or choosing to eat that fruit bowl over that delicious burger, and even when I treat myself with a reward (like a movie or two) for working so hard and taking care of everyone. It’s so silly, trust me I know, but it’s also the truth.

Lemon Water Vs. Good Old Plain Water. Which Should You Be Drinking More Of?

Have you ever given much thought about the health benefits of drinking lemon water? I know some of you may be thinking that water is water it doesn’t matter how you dress it, and while you are right, it is true that the way you dress it does matter!

I’m an avid water drinker. I think to say I love water is a bit of an overstatement but you guys, I love water! I drink it all the time and as much of it as I can throughout the day. I know this may make me seem like a bit of an odd ball (because who loves water, right?) but that’s ok! I do this mainly for my health and because it’s one of the few beverages that I literally have unlimited access to (and so do you).

However, this past year I have really been getting into drinking lemon water.

For a long time, I thought the whole idea of lemon water was silly. I couldn’t wrap my head around why people put lemons in their water, let alone the joy they got from drinking water with lemons in it. The first time I ever heard of lemon water was when I was out eating dinner with my grandpa. When the waiter asked what we would like to drink I ordered me regular water and he ordered himself lemon water.

My first thought was who puts lemons in their water? The next time we went out to eat I ordered me a lemon water just to do something different and since that day I have been so into it.

So, what’s the deal with lemon water? Is it really better for your health than good old plain water? Or is it just an excuse to come across as “fancy” or being extra when you’re drinking water? We’re about to find out. [Read more…]
