There’s a lot more meaning behind what it means to be happy than what we often times see and take in on the surface. Genuine happiness comes from within. It comes from pursuing your dreams, setting goals, making genuine connections with others, and above all living your life the way that you intend to. Happiness is a gift that only you can give to yourself, and today I’m going to share with you eight ways that you can give the gift of happiness to yourself.

If you have not read How To Be A Bawse by Lilly Singh then you’re missing out! Hands down one of my favorite books that I have ever invested in! Lilly is such a great person and by far one of my favorite people on the face of this Earth (even though I don’t know her personally).

Lilly Singh is a YouTube creator, an author, and she even dabbles a little in acting. However, she is mostly known for her YouTube content where she posts short comedy videos and has a daily vlog where you get an inside look into the wonderful life of Lilly. In 2017 Lilly released her first book, How To Be A Bawse, where she shares her personal story of overcoming depression in order to build the life that she has for herself with the world.

I’ve only got my very own personal copy a year ago and I find myself returning to this book time and time again. I turn to it for so many reasons. Whether it’s to lift up my spirits, to find inspiration, or even to remind myself of the many goals and dreams that I want to achieve in my life, this book is a huge comfort to me. It has helped me in a lot of ways both personally and professionally.

10 Reasons Why You Don’t Need A Gym Membership to Get Fit

Here’s the deal. Every year everyone looks forward to transforming into the best version of themselves. They want to be better, do better, and even look better than the year before. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to improve on yourself, the reality is that not everyone sticks to those kinds of goals.

Especially when they are made at the beginning of the year and involve transforming your body.

Now of course there are people who actually do follow through with those goals, and by the end of the new year they end up literally being the best version of themselves. However, there are probably even more people who don’t. Why you might ask?

To be honest I don’t know, but if I had to guess, I would say it’s because everyone thinks that in order to transform their bodies, they have to get a gym membership. A gym membership symbolizes some kind of commitment to workout and follow through with working out consistently. Therefore, everyone rushes to the gym to begin their transformation journey.

The reality of setting personal goals that directly impact your health and wellness is that its’ not something that magically happens overnight. You have to work hard at it, day in and day out, until you get to that desired goal. And even then, to maintain it you have to remain consistent. Otherwise I promise you all that hard work will slip right between your fingertips.

20 Fun Health and Wellness Summer Activities

It’s summer!

I’ll admit it’s not my favorite season, but I really do enjoy being out in the sunshine and relaxing in the warm weather. However, when it gets way too hot outside, I have to be indoors. I can’t stand the heat like that. Thankfully summer has not been off to a burning start. Instead, it’s been a very pleasant warm outside, which I love because it gives me a reason to be out and about engaging in some fun summertime activities.

Over the summer I usually like to stay indoors reading a good book for most of the day. I also love, love, love watching movies and binge-watching TV shows at night during the summertime. Something about it just makes it all seem a bit more…vibe worthy. If that makes any sense ha-ha.

This summer however, I’m choosing to switch it up a little. I’m still going to be indoors reading, watching movies and TV shows for most of the summer, but I’m also going to do my best to be a little bit more active.

I’m putting a heavy focus on my health and wellness this season. One of my health and wellness goals for this year was to be more active. Whether this meant walking more, doing more cardio, or just getting out and moving my body, I want to increase my daily level of physical activity. So, in addition to participating in some of my favorite and traditional summertime activities, I’m also going to try to get out as much as I can and soak up the sun.

Exercising Tips for Beginners Starting a Fitness or Wellness Journey

Whether you’ve been working out for a couple of day, a few weeks, a few years, or maybe you’re just starting out, there’s always a starting point to your fitness and wellness journey. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been on your fitness or wellness journey, when you started and whether it has come to an end, there was once specific point and time in your life where you’ve had to start the journey.

Before we dive into this post, I want to share a quick story with you about my fitness and wellness journey.

My fitness and wellness journey started for me nearly 5 years ago and it’s been a constant up and down battle. There have been many times when I’ve been able to remain consistent with working out, as well as many times when I’ve lost track of my goals and have let all my hard go to waste. I’m talking about not remaining consistent with my workouts, going from eating healthy to eating terrible, drinking more soda than I did water…just a complete backtrack on all my hard work.

It took me years before I finally found something that just worked for me. Even upon discovering what worked best for me, I still struggled with remaining consistent with working out, eating healthy, and drinking plenty of water. This was because I found myself starting my fitness and wellness journey over many, many times which meant that a lot of my bad habits were not broken.

However, after nearly 3 years of working out with Blogilates, I finally found my groove. I’ll admit, the first 2 years was still a bit of a struggle for me, but working out with Cassey was the most consistent with any workout routine that I had ever been. So, after years of trying to find my tribe, I decided to stick with Cassey. And I’m so glad I did! [Read more…]

20 Self-Care Activities That You Can Do with a Friend

You know how much I love to talk about, encourage, and even participate in self-care. You know that, right?

Well if you’re new to my blog the one thing you should know about me is that I LOVE self-care! I am such a huge advocate for it and I strongly believe that everyone should be participating in it every single day. There are so many reasons why we all should be engaging in self-care on a daily basis.

Some of those reasons include:

  1. It promotes a healthy relationship with ourselves
  2. It increases our confidence and self-esteem
  3. It helps in creating healthy boundaries with others
  4. It promotes an overall greater well-being
  5. It helps you be more energetic throughout the day

These are just a few reasons why you should be doing self-care on a daily basis. Of course, this list could be a lot longer, but that’s not what today’s post is about. Instead I want to introduce you to some ways that you can engage in self-care with a friend, a family member, or anybody in your life who could use a little bit of self-loving as well.

Often times when we think of self-care, we think of the alone time that we all so desperately crave. While this is a great way, and honestly my favorite way, to engage in self-care, that’s not the only way to do it effectively. Believe it or not you can hang out with your friends and family doing fun things while still taking the time to engage in self-care.
