How A Health and Wellness Coach Can Change Your Life for The Better

Last week I officially launched my Health and Wellness Coaching business!

This has been something that I have been dying to do for about two years now and I’m so excited that it’s finally happening! My main inspiration and motivation for starting my coaching business was the passion that I have for empowering women in so many different ways. I’ve spent a lot of my life striving to accomplish everything that I personally wanted for myself while also trying to please others.

Spoiler alert all this did was lead to many stressful days, many sleepless nights, a lot of anxiety piling up, many periods of depression, and with each passing year I was losing motivation to keep reaching for all my biggest hopes and dreams.

After hitting a wall a couple of times, I knew something had to change. I finally found the courage to admit to myself that things in my life weren’t going to get better until I started making the effort to change the things that weren’t working. So about 4 years ago I finally invested in my first ever one-on-one coaching session and from that day on my life was forever changed.

My eyes had been opened to so many unspoken truths that were playing out right in front of me for a very long time. My first coaching session made it hard to put my blinders back on, and to continue to walk this Earth with my head hanging low. In order to find genuine peace and happiness in my life I knew I had to make some necessary changes. So that’s what I did.

In today’s post I want to share with you some of the ways that a health and wellness coach can change your life for the better. I honestly do not believe that I would have switched gears from pursuing a career as a therapist or psychologist, to one of coaching had I not had this personal experience.

How to Create Healthy Habits

Your lifestyle determines so much about who you are as a person, the kind of goals you tend to make, and ultimately the kind of habits that exist behind these goals. For a really long time I believed that achieving anything in life was simply a matter of determination, perseverance, and of course motivation.

Turns out it takes a lot more than that!

Have you ever found yourself setting the intention to achieve something, but as soon as you get a good rhythm going you just stop? For example, maybe you create an exercise routine that works best for you and a daily schedule of when to exercise, you stay at it for about a week or two, and then you just stop. Was it lack of motivation? Were you not determined enough to reach that goal? Did you not have the willpower to just power through until you got to the end?

Was it all of this or maybe none of it?

The answer is yes, it was all of this. You lost motivation, your determination decreased, and with each passing day you essentially “gave up” on reaching that goal your perseverance slowly disappeared. But was that all that it was? No. What else was missing? The habits behind maintaining it all.

We like the idea of just diving into something and being able to do what it is we came to do. However, the reality is no matter how determined or motivated you are to achieve something, if that spirit is not backed by healthy habits to keep you going when times get tough, you’re ultimately going to fail.

9 Tips to Take Better Care of Yourself

Do you understand the importance of taking care of yourself? The reason why in order for us to give our best to those we love we must ensure we are doing the same for ourselves? Do you know what it means to take care of yourself?

I’ve been guilty of this for years and honestly, I’m tired of feeling this way!

I’m tired of feeling as though I’m giving so much more of myself to others, and very little to myself. I’m tired of feeling like I’m not appreciated for everything that I do, especially when I know it’s my own vices speaking to me. I’m tired of routinely doing all of the right things just to feel as though everything else is falling apart.

I’m tired of believing I’m not enough, and not giving myself enough room to grow into the best version of myself. I’m so tired of circling the drain of hopelessness, but I can’t seem to overcome this feeling no matter what I do.

Does this sound like you? Believe it or not this was me not too long ago. For years I carried this type of mindset with me everywhere I went and with everything I did. No matter how hard I tried I struggled severely with believing that I was more than enough as an individual to conquer the world on my own terms.

It wasn’t until I made the commitment to take better care of myself when this mindset began to change. Once I changed this mindset the whole world opened its doors for me, and once I took off running, I never stopped.

How to Stay Focused on Your Goals No Matter What

Let’s face it. We all set goals with the intention of achieving them. We do so well when we’re by ourselves and its only US working on our goals. We have no one to question why we’re doing what we’re doing, if it’s really working, why we felt now was the time to make these changes, etc…

When it’s just us our opinion and validation are the only things that matter. We are 100% clear about what goals we specifically are striving for and the why behind the reasoning for them. Once others get thrown into the mix it can become a big old ball of confusion! This confusion comes from second guessing our why and intentionally seeking that validation from others.

We suddenly place so much value on their opinion that we tend to lose sight of what motivated us from the start. In some cases, this can cause us to completely abandoned ship on all our goals. When this happens, we end up reverting back to the way we were and any growth that we may have experienced between then and now becomes stagnant.

So how do we overcome this struggle? Especially when our goals mean so much to us. How do we block out the opinions and sometimes judgement of others so that we can stay focused on what matters most to us? It’s really simple when you think about it in hindsight.
