Self-Care Habits You Need to Adopt Right Now

September 25, 2017 by Kimora Chanel

Life is full of questions, choices, decisions, accomplishments, and many, many disappointments. However, those questions, decisions, accomplishments, and many, many, disappointments all pave the way for something bigger than us. Not only for something bigger than us, but for something greater and more meaningful to us.

I watched a Goalcast video over the weekend about how sometimes letting go of the thing you want the most, could be exactly what you need to do in order to achieve what it is you really need. The video talked about the beauty of unwillingly letting go of something that could have potentially opened many doors for this individual. The beauty of doing this was that by unwillingly letting go of that opportunity opened the many, and might I say the right doors, that she needed in order to move forward in her career.

The video was of actress Lisa Kudrow giving a speech about her journey in the entertainment industry. If you are not familiar with Lisa Kudrow she played Phoebe Buffay on the hit television sitcom Friends. In the video Lisa talked about how she got an opportunity to be a part of the show Frasier, which everyone knew was going to be a big hit, and sure enough it was. However, Lisa got fired from the show and basically found herself back in every actor’s worst nightmare. Fighting day and night to break into the entertainment industry and make a living doing the one thing that breathes life into you. [Read more…]

The Three States of Happiness: Self, Mind, & Soul

September 19, 2017 by Kimora Chanel

Man, I’ve come to realize a lot of things as of late. Specifically, things about my dreams, my goals, and how it all is impacting my life. Some days it’s impacting it in a really positive and motivating way. Other days it’s impacting it in a negative and self-defeating kind of way. Regardless, the way and kind of impact it is having on my life, is influencing my overall state of being.

It’s crazy to think that I’m approaching my mid-20s, and while I have done a lot with my life, I still have so much more to do with it. So many more goals to reach, so many more dreams to achieve, and so many more opportunities to create and take advantage of. Life is short, but when you spend your life actively working towards something bigger than you, it seems like an endless loop of…happiness?

Happiness…it’s just a word but somehow has so much meaning behind it. It represents an individual state of being and is most certainly something we all individually seek after in life, should we choose to admit that or not. But what if I told you happiness can be and is, so much more than what we have always known it to be?

What if I told you happiness was nothing more than a figment of your imagination? That what we define as happiness is solely how we choose to recognize it in our own lives? What if I told you that happiness is not something you can identify in the presence of others, but instead something that you can only identify in the presence of yourself?

Happiness is a state of being, but it’s the state of being that you choose to live in. Self. Mind. Soul. The three different states of happiness that we as individuals have the opportunity and the power to exist in all at the same time. [Read more…]

Moving Forward: Five Ways to Keep Your Personal Hope Alive

September 11, 2017 by Kimora Chanel

Moving forward.

That’s something that I use to always be afraid of. Not like completely afraid of it to the point where I would stand in my own way of achieving any opportunity to be able to move forward. But afraid of it in the way of not always trusting that I know what’s best for myself and for my life.

That’s the thing though, we spend so much of our lives relying on others, or looking to others as a way to figure out the type of life we should live. We always try to mimic the lives of those we are in awe of, or to live better lives than those who live a life that we don’t necessarily agree with. Whatever the case may be, the point is we always try to live our lives by the standards of others, whether that’s a direct or indirect influence in our own life.

I was guilty of this when I was younger. I mean we all do, especially when we are younger because we are much easier to manipulate. However, as we age we just become more aware. More aware of everything, and that awareness truly transforms us in imaginable and unimaginable ways. The awareness of the life we live and the life we desire to live, transforms our thinking and our actions in necessary ways to honor the vision that we have for our own personal lives.

Never be afraid or ashamed of that, or of any transformation that has the potential to unfold at any given time in your life. [Read more…]

Four Simple Ways to Make Your Life a Little Richer in Value

September 6, 2017 by Kimora Chanel

Hi guys!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for me lately. The good kind of busy though. You know, the type of busy when shit gets done. That’s the kind of busy I’ve had for the past two weeks. Usually I’d be totally exhausted and somewhat upset about it, but this time I’m not. I guess that’s because it’s all for a greater cause in my life.

Labor Day weekend came and went. I’ve never been a fan of this weekend/holiday. Don’t ask me why, I just get any kind of feeling from it. In fact, I honestly even forgot it was Labor Day weekend, and that Monday was Labor Day. Even with my mother reminding me every other day last week, it just didn’t stick.

That’s beside the point though. How was yours? What did you do? I’d love to hear about it.

Usually my family and I have a big BBQ dinner and watch movies. Not this time though. My mother went out of town with one of her friends, and I spent the weekend recovering from a tough week of life. I did do something fun for Labor Day though.

On Labor Day, my older brother and I took my nephew to the zoo! We met up with a couple of his friends from preschool, and they all had a blast. However, supervising four toddlers in one big open setting, with the divided responsibility of watching and protecting them for four hours…I don’t know how ANYBODY does it.

Four toddler boys all running around the zoo! I could easily say it was a nightmare but it wasn’t. It was slightly hectic, but the good kind of hectic. Not the kind of hectic where you want to yell and rip your hair out, but at the same time you don’t because no one is really in any kind of danger, and you’re not on the verge of losing your mind. The kind of hectic when it’s just really loud and there’s a lot of action happening, but you know it’s ok because everyone is smiling and laughing [Read more…]

Breathe In. Breathe Out. A Peace of Mind Is a Beautiful Thing!

August 30, 2017 by Kimora Chanel

Hey guys! I have a fun breathing exercise that I want you try. I know what you’re probably thinking, “A breathing exercise? Whatever for?”

Well, because we all could use some time to really make sure that we are in balance with everything we do. That means being in balance with ourselves and our jobs, school, health, extracurricular activities, and whatever else you may have going on in your life. When we have balance in our lives across the board, we set ourselves up not only for success, but for an overall happier experience in our daily lives. When we are out of balance in one area, believe it or not but that can set the tone for how we greet each day.

It was once said to me, “how we do one thing is how we do everything.” It’s so damn good I’m going to repeat it just for you (and myself 😊)

How we do ONE thing is how we do EVERYTHING.

That means wherever we are choosing to half-ass our efforts and abilities in life, is more than likely going to reflect in other areas in our lives. The areas we choose to give it our all, will show greatly in all areas of our life. So balance is very important! Not only for consistency, but also for your own personal commitment to make the most out of your life.

So, without further a-do, here is a breathing exercise that one of our fabulous readers shared with me the other day, and I loved it so much that I wanted to share it with you all! [Read more…]
